About Us
#Redeemthe10
Virtual Vigil
Take back the 10 minutes it took to take the life of George Floyd, by co-creating a brave space for those left living to remember, reflect and hold appreciative dialogue.
Redeem The 10
#RedeemThe10 is a communal faith-response in action to the senseless murders of black men, women, and children.
According to the New York Times, Mr. George Floyd was pronounced dead at 9:25 pm on Monday, May 25, 2020. The autopsy read that the cause of death was asphyxiation. Mr. Chauvin, who is white, kept his knee on Mr. Floyd’s neck for eight minutes and 46 seconds, according to the criminal complaint against him. The video shows that Mr. Chauvin did not remove his knee even after Mr. Floyd lost consciousness, and for a full minute after paramedics arrived at the scene.
In response to this tragic event, a few committed friends with like minds set out to transform time by dedicating brave space for prayer, contemplation, and creativity during a time of uprising and uncertainty.

What draws you to this work?
In support of Renee Bradford’s response to a call to action I too was drawn in to action. Each time we gather on and off camera we are clear that this is something bigger than us. I appreciate the way art is infused into each broadcast because we are communicating in ways that words just can not. We are experiencing things that are beyond words but always speak-able.

What draws you to this work?
Redeem the 10 is a redemption restorative work that propels individuals forward rather than being mentally paralyzed and hopeless during a time of uncertainty. The opportunity to unite others who have a desire to foster responsible, life-giving change has brought me to the work of Redeem the 10

What draws you to this work?
The art of listening, looking, guiding and accepting the call to action. This calling draws me into a contemplative space with others who are grieving and hurting for justice and righteousness. Redeem the Ten is a virtual space for healing, self-care and slowing life down to reflect upon the community as well as self. This work holds space for me to be creative in writing and sharing what’s been placed in my soul for the world.

What draws you to this work?
After the death of George Floyd a morning prayer call ended with a call to action of “what will you do with your ten minutes”. The compulsion for a answer weighed heavy on me. I decided to respond at the speed of revelation to transform the crisis that was happening in our community and in our world. For me the best way to do that was to come together and that is how Redeem the 10 began.

What draws you to this work?
I was drawn to this space because this space offered an opportunity to be apart of a beautiful movement in which we could not only pay our respects to George Floyd and stand in solidarity against the violence that took his life, but also be apart of a space that is educating and nurturing us on how to move forward together.

What draws you to this work?
Community is where I am grounded, regardless of where I was born or grew up, the country where I now reside is home and I like my country to be as beautiful and as welcoming a place as my own home is. I believe in working with people who know love is a stronger change making force than hate.

“If one of us is chained, none of us are free.” I’ve often listened to these words sung by Solomon Burke. These words have never rang as true to me as these times. For me, #Redeemthe10 is an opportunity for healing the wounds of injustice through loving and diverse community, embodied creativity, courageous conversation and sacred contemplation. We show up for each other; we learn with and from each other; we offer the space for each other and beyond to connect, correct and co-create a flourishing future for all.
